Meerkat Phantom Manor

Meerkat MansionFor Hallowe'en 2008, we transformed the mild-manored garage into a chamber of horrors. It's an important cultural tradition to scare crap out of kids. (on Flickr)

Orphan Thanksgiving

Meerkat MansionFor Thanksgiving, we have orphan Thanksgivings. When folks are not having Thanksgiving with their family (making em an orphan), Orphan Thanksgiving at the Meerkat Manor has been a blast.

We have had Orphan Thanksgivings at Meerkat Manor for over five years. They are a wonderful, warm, social, and delicious time.

Idiot Ball Party

We play it in the street. It's more fun than you'd think. www.IdiotBall.com

Making Real Egg Nog

Throw out that artificially colored, syrup and carageenan crap in the milk carton. Just throw it out. This recipe includes heavy cream, honey, fresh nutmeg, brandy (or just flavoring for the kids) and some eggs that you'd feel safe eating raw, like organic or whatever.

House Concert

Share with us our love for these long-standing members of the amazing and eclectic SF music scene -- we Meerkats are proud to present for your listening pleasure:

9:00pm LORD EXISTER Dani (L.E.) Leone (Ed's Redeeming Qualities, SF Bay Guardian's "Cheap Eats")

10:00pm THE GREAT AUK Bernie Jungle (Warm Wires, Lipsey Mountain Spring Band) and Carrie Bradley (ERQ, 100 Watt Smile, The Breeders)

YouTube Gong Show

What is a Youtube Gong Show you ask? Well, we take 100 videos from the internet with one keyword and show them one after the other. If one of them stinks somebody rings a giant gong and we move on to the next one. We do this until we get tired, or run out of videos.

Game Night

Board games! Bring what you'd like to play. We have tons at the house. At one Robert tested out his giant life sized board game.

Jackie and Julian got married

We wanted to get married for a long time and we wanted it to be a super cool neat-o celebration. Stuff kept getting in the way, so eventually we decided to get married anyway. We gave everybody 24 hours notice. Randal took photos.

Animation Festival

We have had a few anual animation festivals. Sometimes mixed with a clothing swap or other happenings

Storytelling night

You can listen to stories. You can tell stories. What's happened in your life? There have been some kinda incredible stories! And oddly, it's surprising how often perversion rears its head. heh.

The Princess Bride

It was interactive, kind of like Rocky horror picture show. The instructions for what we did can be found here. Everybody to got a packet of items to use. The best part was when we attacked each other with stuffed animals during the Rodents of Unusual Size scene.

Meerkat Palooza

A multi-day Meerkat event of yesteryear.

Sandwichgirl sandwichgirl sandwichgirl party!

While Sandwichgirl was in Antarctica, we had a sandwich girl party. Several people dressed up as her (many convincingly, I might ad). There was a sandwich girl slideshow. Readings from her blog. Sandwich girl paraphernalia. A sandwich making table with all Americana sandwich fixings (eat the sandwich). We taunted sandwich girl with the photos. We made postal goodness and sent it her way.

Logan's Run

Once it was just a movie night, but we had the hand crystals, and it was played from Randal's original laser disk.

The next time, it was for Sandwiches 30th with a projection unit in a parking lot on VanNess.

The 23rd Century is the perfect world of total pleasure, except for one catch... ...your entire life takes place in an enclosed mall (and you cannot live beyond 30).

Dinner in the dark

Sandwich and Robert did this as a way to discuss "ideas": It will be unnecessary to dress up for this event, as it will be in the dark. if you choose to come naked, please be courteous and bring a towel for your chair. admission: free with an empty stomach and an event idea scribbled on a 3x5 card. yes really. i don't care if it's dumb. you have a week. start thinking, as we will be checking at the door.
